The Openwater Diver course teaches
you the foundational knowledge and skills you need to dive with
a buddy, independent of supervision anywhere in the world, to a
maximum of 18 meters (12 meters for Junior divers aged 10 -
Earning your Openwater Diver certification is just the beginning.
As a certified diver, fabulous dive destinations, exciting people,
unparalleled adventure and uncommon tranquillity await you. Also,
as you continue your adventure and gain experience through higher
training levels, your opportunities expand.
For 2018 we will continue offering this certification through either PADI or SDI (Scuba Divers International) on an alternate basis.
Our calendar for the year will reflect which agency will be used for certification purposes and so each course will be exclusive to the individual agency. Both agency certifications are equally valid and recognised worldwide.
The Open Water Dive sessions at the NDAC will be weather, water temperature and underwater visibility dependent.
The Open Water Course is run over two weekends.
- Weekend one Theory and Pool Dives.
- Weekend Two Openwater Qualifying Dives.
The theory and qualifying dives are held at the National Diving & Activity Centre.
The pool dives are held at Thornbury Leisure Centre
If you wish, you can complete the knowledge development portion of the PADI Open Water Diver course online with PADI
eLearning. However, you will be required to take a formal multi-choice review question paper at a formal classroom session.
