Covid-19 Control Measures at the National Diving & Activity Centre, Chepstow
With current lockdown restrictions, the increasing pressures on the NHS, and the Government's advice to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travel, we have decided to close the National Diving & Activity Centre for all activities January, February and March 2021.
We plan to reopen for Scuba Diving and Accommodation at the start of April for the Easter Weekend and weekends following that. Accommodation is available to book from Friday 2nd April, and Scuba Diving is available to book from Saturday 3rd April (Including the Bank Holiday Monday on the 5th April)
This is all dependent on the Covid-19 restrictions that are in place and we will review our opening dates as Government advice is released. We will keep everyone posted on social media and our website.
Other activities such as Atlantis Aqua Park, Drive-In Cinema, The Wire and Giant 3G Swing will remain closed at this stage, but are under constant review.
We thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon.
When we reopen there will be a number of new procedures and measures in place throughout the site to protect our visitors and staff from Covid-19. Please ensure you have read through these and fully understand them prior to your visit.
All Scuba Diving, Activities, Events and Accommodation provided by the National Diving & Activity Centre are now using an online booking system. Evening meals at the View Cafe Bar must be pre-booked in advance.
At this stage we are only accepting visitors who have pre-booked online for Scuba Diving.
Paperless Registration Forms
Diving Declaration forms and Activity Registration forms must be completed online as part of the booking process. Without the completed online form you will not be able to take part in the activity.
We want you to stay safe and encourage you to bring and wear your own face covering while visiting us at the National Diving & Activity Centre. Our staff, where applicable, will also be wearing PPE.
If you have any of the symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19) we ask that you do not visit the National Diving & Activity Centre. If you develop any symptoms whilst at the site we request that you leave the site safely, return home and seek medical advice. Our staff may ask you about your health and any Covid19 symptoms on arrival.
The National Diving & Activity Centre is a large outdoor venue with lots of open space and fresh air for you to enjoy and keep safe.
We will follow social distancing guidelines and request that all visitors stay 2 metres apart. We will also limit the amount of close proximity you will have with our staff where practicable to do so.
There is social distancing signage in place and where possible we'll be operating one-way systems. Some areas, such as toilets, will have limits to the number of people who can enter at any one time.
Increased Cleaning Activity
In addition to the comprehensive cleaning procedures and checks we have in place, we will increase the cleaning schedules throughout the National Diving & Activity Centre.
You will be able to find additional hand-wash, paper towels and sanitising stations that have been installed in rest areas and throughout the site.
Where possible, shared equipment will be sanitised between each use.
Scuba Diving, Activity, Event and Accommodation payments are all taken online via the website.
The remainder of the National Diving & Activity Centre operates with contactless payments only and staff no longer handle cash. This covers areas such as the View Cafe Bar, the Dive Shop, Service Shack and Gas Room. As well as the safety benefits, we believe this will be convenient for our visitors, speed up transactions and reduce queueing at the site.
Contactless payment machines are be cleaned between transactions if staff/visitors need to use the touchpad.
For the Scuba Divers who use our buses to travel between the car park and lake, we have a number of procedures in place.
These Covid-19 procedures and measures are under constant review as the Government guidelines are updated.
We thank you for your patience and understanding.
If you have any specific questions or concerns please contact us.
Frequently asked Questions
Hi everyone. We are really excited to welcome back divers to the National Diving & Activity Centre. Below are some answers to some recent questions and some important information for our diving visitors.
What time can I get on site?
We will be open at 0800 hrs and there will be no access to the site before this time. When you arrive please have your booking email confirmation ready and you will be told where to park your car. To alleviate queuing on the A48 main road, cars will be queued on the side road of the main car park until booked in. As all the paperwork is done beforehand, the entry process should be a lot quicker. The site will close at 1700 hrs and you must be clear of the water before 1600hrs.
Can I just arrive without booking?
No sorry, all bookings must be made in advance prior to your arrival via the website. If no booking has been made and confirmed, you will not be allowed on the site. This is for everyone’s safety as visitor numbers are restricted.
Can I use someone's booking if they can’t make it?
No, each booking is for the named individual who has made the booking and we need to keep a record of everyone who is on the site. Please contact us if you are unable to attend so we can free the slot for another diver.
Can I come to spectate or provide surface cover for someone onsite?
We will not be allowing spectators onsite. If you need to bring surface cover please email so we can arrange to have names added to the list. Please do not just arrive on site as entry may be refused.
Do I need to wear a face covering?
A suitable face covering must be worn on arrival to book-in, in all indoor spaces onsite or when in close proximity to others where it may be hard to keep 2 metres apart (such as in the minibuses and on the pontoon).
Will the toilets and changing rooms be open?
The toilets and changing rooms will be open, but face coverings must be worn. Please pay attention to the signs outside which indicate the number of people permitted at any time. There will be increased cleaning in these areas, along with sanitising items and sprays for people to sanitise before and after use. We all have a part to play so please follow our guidance and help us to keep you and others safe.
Will food be served at the View Cafe Bar?
We will have a limited menu being served from the outside bar area. There will be outdoor seating and a limited amount of seating available in the marquee. Please maintain social distancing and no groups of more than 6. A face covering will be required in the marquee until you are seated. Please help us by ensuring all rubbish is placed in the bins provided.
What will happen with minibuses?
The buses are running. There will a number of measures in place; every person will need to clean / sanitise hands before they enter the bus and wear a face covering.
The numbers taken down to the water will be limited to allow people to move from the drop-off area.
We will be using a number of buses and will pick up from the gates in the corner of the car park. On your return from the water, we will drop people near the gas room to avoid the rush between trips.
If people prefer to walk, they can put equipment on the bus and walk down to the water. There will be an increase of cleaning and the buses will be sprayed with sanitiser. The windows will be kept open to increase ventilation. Please be patient as it may take a little longer, but safety will come first.
Will NDAC be filling gas?
Yes, we will be filling gas. We will be sanitising cylinders between fills so this may slow things down a little.
As always, gas will be filled on a first come first served basis. Please be patient and, if possible, we recommend you arrive full.
Please make sure all cylinders for the following day are in the gas room before 1615hrs.
Can I just arrive to get a gas fill?
At the moment, we are not offering a walk-in service for gas fills. Please email to arrange this.
What if I have a Wooden Wigwam booking?
To limit unnecessary contact, you don’t need to book in for your Wigwam accommodation. Your key will be placed in your allocated wigwam door for your 4pm arrival. Unfortunately, you will not be able to access the wooden wigwams before 4pm.
Remember, we all have a part to play in keeping each other safe and the rules are for everyones safety. If anyone does not follow the rules in place, they may be asked to leave the site without a refund.
