What is the Try Dive experience all about?
This experience is one of the most popular introductions to scuba diving courses, especially if you are undecided as to whether to undertake a full certification course. It will provide you with a taste of what scuba diving is all about and help you to decide whether scuba diving is for you.
Our highly experienced staff hold instructor qualifications for a number of different agencies. We hold a full list of our Instructors qualifications at the centre and a copy of all diving instructors certifications are available to view upon request.
Our high staff to student ratio, and our philosophy of enjoyment in a safe environment, enables us to coach in a modern and progressive manner that tailors our delivery to meet your individual needs.
Where will the pool sessions take place?
The pool we use is based in Thornbury Leisure Centre, about a 10 minute drive from the NDAC at Tidenham.
Personal lockers are available at a cost of £1.00 coin per locker (you get your £1.00 coin back when you leave the changing rooms).
Pool Timings are as follows
Sunday sessions start at 09.00 hrs and last approximately 1.5 hrs
The ‘Dive Pit’ pool in Thornbury is around 10m long, 10m wide and 3m deep and no matter what time of the year it has a constant temperature of around 29.5ºC (85.1ºF).
The swimming pool has a viewing area where family or friends can come and watch.
We do not allow any photography unless it is by the parents or legal guardian of the child in question and images can only be taken of their own children.
What will I need?
All equipment is from our very own pool of extensive dive training gear, and all technical equipment will be provided. The following list is a suggestion of what you should bring with you for your course.
- Normal clothing that you are comfortable wearing to your local swimming pool
- Swimming Costume / Trunks (to include a spare T - Shirt and shorts to wear over your costume or trunks while in the pool).
- Personal Toiletries / Medication
- Towel for drying yourself after the session.
- A small amount of cash for your personal locker, there is also a cafeteria at the pool are vending machine available at the pool that offers hot, cold drinks and snacks.
Once you have completed your course you will receive a certificate of achievement from you instructor.
Our full range of both SDI and PADI recreational diving courses, starting with the Open Water certification are available to help you further your adventure.
