NDAC £20k Improvements. . .
            . . . We're getting there!

At the National Diving & Activity Centre we think it is important for you to see where your money goes . . . well it has gone into some exciting infrastructure and site developments that will benefit you, our visitors . . .

Toilets, changing room, disabled blocks and cess pool
Firstly we have been able to obtain full detailed planning permission for the improvements to the toilet, changing room and disabled blocks.

The modernisation includes all new facilities:  WC pans, urinals, wash hand basins and showers.

The toilets are now more accessible than ever with new lower height WC pans and urinals suitable for all.  The walls have been re-tiled and given a new modern decorative clean finish.

The new WCs are fed directly from the water main, eliminating the need for cisterns, and the wash hand basins, showers, WC and urinal flush are all sensor controlled.  Mechanical air extraction, new recessed modern energy efficient lighting and background heating have also been installed.

We have just completed the works and have also installed a 27,000ltr cess pool that took over 15 cubic meters of concrete to hold in place! Our old cess pool only held 1,000ltrs, so this one is significantly larger!

John Graham a member of NDAC for some years now had the following to say

"

I am delighted by the high standard of the refurbished toilet facilities at NDAC.  We all recognise  the importance of these facilities to ensure that they reflect the high standards for divers and visitors alike the introduction of the new showers in both male and female WC’s will also make a significant difference in the ongoing improvements."

Forest of Dean District CouncilThe Forest of Dean District Council have also been playing their part in the refurbishment and have supported us with a Tourism Grant to help with some of the costs.

As you may know, detailed planning permission was granted in November 2008 for a cafe bar, and the modular buildings that will form the cafe bar have now been installed more>. Part of the conditions before these buidlings can be used, is for a new site entrance to be built.

We have been working closely with The Forest of Dean District Council and Gloucestershire City Council to obtain detailed technical approval which was issued to us in June this year.

We have a major road contractor on board who has already been busy preparing the site infrastruture and ground works to ensure the new enterance is constructed as quickly and safetly as possable.  The new entrance should take 12-16 weeks to complete and will make accessing the site much easier. We will not be carrying out any groundworks over our busy weekend periods to avoid disruption to our visitors, however, we appologise in advance for any inconveniance these developments may cause you in the short term.

Once the entrance has been completed we will commence on the cafe bar.  We will keep you posted on the development as it progresses, so watch this space.

We would just like to say a big thank you for investing and believing in us, so we can invest in you and the facilities at the National Diving & Activity Centre.
