DIRx Weekend 2008
The location and date for this year's DIRx
weekend will be the 13/14 December 2008 at the National Diving &
Activity Centre, Chepstow.
DIR Explorers is an online community of DIR
trained divers covering the globe. Each year, an 'open weekend'
is held where UK and overseas divers meet up, discuss training &
expeditions and go diving. We also have some fun debunking the myths
surrounding DIR divers, breaking down the barriers of 'them and
us' and generally raising awareness of what GUE training is about
and ultimately getting in the water and having fun.
The format of the event will be the same as
previous years with a series of workshops ranging from basic fundamental
skills to underwater photography classes to scooter workshops to
re-evaluations for previous courses over the 2 days and an evening
meal held in a local hotel with a series of presentations.
It must be emphasized that this is not solely
a weekend for DIR divers but if you are at all interested in GUE
training, come along. There will be workshops and I am hoping that
all of the UK-based GUE instructors will be able to attend.
Previous years have been very successful and
we are hoping that this year will be no different.
