New training platforms arrive at the NDAC

Cardiff Bus & NDAC have linked up to offer two new impressive attractions in the form of one single deck and one double deck bus. These attractions will not only be new underwater attractions and swim through attractions, but also fantastic training platforms.

Due to the increased numbers of divers that have been visiting NDAC over the past few months and the increase in training schools using the centre to train new divers we have decided in invest in some unusual new training platforms.

Building upon recent successes of the extremely popular aircraft and helicopter underwater attractions and wreck dives, we have been in discussions with Cardiff Bus. We are delighted to announce that on Friday 25th March 2008 Dragon Recovery delivered two large buses to the site. The buses are enormous, but don’t just take my word for it, come down and see them for yourself at the far end of the NDAC car park.

The first is a traditional 56-seater single deck bus that weighs in at an impressive 6.5 tonnes has been used in active service throughout Cardiff over the past 15 years. She has clocked up an impressive 500,000 km so I’m sure some of you may have even travelled on her at some stage!

The second vehicle is an impressive Double-deck bus; she seats around 60 to 80 passengers, It is around 10 meters in length, 4.5 meters high and her gross weight is around 12 tonnes.

Over the coming months we will be making the buses fit for purpose. We believe this will not only provide a stable, safe and exciting training platform but also to act as a swim through attraction for the more confident divers amongst you. So whilst our students are conducting their skills and drills above you could be swimming through underneath them, how cool is that! You won’t even need a ticket.

The training platforms are more than capable of each taking up to 20 students at a time so being first on the training platforms will no longer be an issue, as there will be plenty of room. Watch this space over the coming months for an update on how we are getting on preparing the coaches for their new underwater home.
