Charity Abseil at NDAC - Sunday 5th September 2010

Are you up for the challenge,
or do you know someone who is . . . .

The National Diving & Activity Centre is promoting an Abseil Charity Challenge for The Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) on Sunday 5th September 2010.

The Abseil will run from the top of the quarry, down 200ft onto a floating pontoon below - an exciting abseil in a spectacular location!

This event is for raising funds to help buy a replacement of SARA 3, one of the craft in SARA's rescue boat fleet.

All fundraisers raising £125 or more will be entered into a draw for a day out on the Severn Estuary in a SARA lifeboat. The highest fundraiser will win a mystery prize.

A 100 tonnes of stone arrived to form the new entry and exit points and have been placed in position by the water's edge to sure up the new concrete platform near the pontoons.

New entrance
nears completion

Dive for Free at NDAC

The new entrance is progressing well. 200 tonnes of sub-base and 130 tonnes or tarmac have been rolled into site. We plan to close the old entrance over the next week and start using the new one very soon.

Adventure Triathlon

Adventure Triathlon

New for 2010, the NDAC Adventure Triathlon will see athletes combine the three disciplines of triathlon with the excitement of adventure racing on the 18th Sept.

The Event will take place in the clear clean waters, footpaths and countryside of the NDAC with off road sections in the Forest of Dean.

Military Trials at NDAC

Military Trials by Royal Engineers

Recently the National Diving & Activity Centre proudly hosted a military trial at our Chepstow dive site.

Royal EngineersThe trial ran for around ten days in March with a team of highly skilled Royal Engineer divers from a number of different units.

The divers trained at NDAC under instruction and supervision of The Defense Diving School (DDS) from Portsmouth. more>

Dragons Relay 2010

NDAC Sponsors the Dragon relay 2010

The NDAC are proud to announce that they will be sponsoring this years Dragon Relay.

2 Lt Tom Limb and OCdt Freddie Rider will be running 284 miles around Wales. At the same time,
members of Wales UOTC Corps will be running a relay carrying the Bastion Baton.

All this to raise a target of £10,000 for 3 great charities:

Sonar Site Survey

A Sonar site survey has been conducted at the NDAC by Phillip Bowen. Phillip is a Senior Water & Environment Technician and the survey was carried out as part of his dissertation.

We have recently taken out one of the site's oldest attractions to make way for some new attractions that we are looking at bringing onto the site over the coming months.

The cruiser was situated in 10m of water and could be found between the two training tables along the northern wall of the quarry.
