VR Demo Day a great success Visitors had the chance to try out all the VR computers and we also offered try dives on the new sentinel unit with Paul Toomer from Diving Matrix. A £10.00 donation was charged for each Sentinel try dive undertaken with all funds raised going to the RNLI. Together we have raised £500 for the RNLI with this event. Congratulations to Peter Friswell a local NDAC member from Cwmbran who was the winner of a VR3 HD Computer, kindly donated by VR Technology. Our other big winner on the day was Dave Holdman, winner of a £200 voucher to put towards a VEEcam, kindly donated by VEEcam Persides. Taking place at the National Diving and Activity Centre in Chepstow, this was the fifth national competition organised by Sam Kirby of Saltfree Divers, and one of the largest UK competitions ever. About a dozen of the entrants train regularly with Saltfree, the others came from as far afield as Norway, France and Australia (well, not quite, he was living in London). The competition was truly an eclectic mix with five women amongst the leading divers, and athletes from six different countries (7 if you include Cornwall!). Read the full report, find out more about freediving at NDAC and see the results here>

NDAC take on more stock of Brown and Rainbow Trout We have just taken stock of another batch of Brown and Rainbow Fish from Bibury Trout farm in Gloucestershire. This time they are somewhat bigger than last year's batch, these monsters are weighing in at around 7 - 12lb each - and you thought the Pike were big! Our new fish are settling into their new surroundings very well and seem to like the divers for some reason, so why don’t you pop down for a visit soon?

We have also just installed four new showers and additional changing room facilities. We hope you like the improvements; next time you are down try them out for yourselves and let us know what you think. Jonathan Keble a member of NDAC says that they are the smartest toilets and changing rooms around by far! |
Construction Starts on new entrance As you may know, detailed planning permission was granted in November 2008 for a cafe bar, and the modular buildings that will form the cafe bar have now been installed. more> Part of the conditions before these buildings can be used, is for a new site entrance to be built. Detailed technical approval was issued in June and contractors are now busy preparing the site to ensure the new entrance is constructed as quickly and safely as possible. We will not be carrying out any ground works over our busy weekend periods to avoid disruption to our visitors. The new entrance should take 12-16 weeks to complete and will make accessing the site much easier. |
