Duck
Dive Photographic Competition
----------------------------------
In 1992 a container ship lost a consignment of 29,000 rubber ducks during a storm. 15 years and 17,000 miles later, the ducks are heading towards British beaches.
Recently, rubber ducks have been spotted around the National Diving & Activity Centre in Chepstow. We’ve stamped the ducks with the NDAC logo to help identify them but there are now more ducks than we can cope with!
We need your help to give the ducks a good home and at the same time raise funds for the Shark and Marine Conservation Group, Bite-Back, the UK’s only organisation dedicated to the protection of sharks by reducing consumer demand for its meat and fins.
As an incentive to encourage you to adopt our ducks, we are hosting a photographic competition. Send in a photo of your duck in an exotic, wacky or exciting location, to be in with a chance of winning one of many fantastic diving or photography related prizes.

VR
Demo Day, Cave Diving Talk and BBQ
-------------------------------------
On June 27th 2009 we will be hosting a demo day with VR Dive Computers.
You will have the chance to try out all the computers and we will also be offering try dives on the new sentinel unit for anyone looking at getting one.
A £10.00 donation will be charged for each Sentinel try dive undertaken - All funds raised will go to RNLI. There will also be four Instructors from VR Technology on the day which will mean plenty of opportunity for dives.
If you are interested in a try dive on the new sentinel and you hold the correct diving qualifications please e mail, ring or pop into the shop to book your place - as you would expect this is becoming a very popular event and will run on a first come first serve basis.
Win Win Win!
There will also be a chance to win a VR3 HD Computer on the day (Kindly donated by VR Technology)
Capture it, Watch it, Share it
Also on the day we will have some VEECams from Persides for you to try out.
VEECam® will capture your experience and enable you to playback and watch your movie in the field or download to PC for editing and sharing. VEEcam® is a hands free highly robust body worn video system that is waterproof to depths of 100 metres . With no moving parts it is also shock and vibration resistant, making it suitable for most extreme diving environments.
Cave Diving Talk
At the end of the day Phil Short will give a talk on the exploration of unexplored caves in the Ural Mountains and Bashkirian regions of Russia.
The emphasis on the talk will be the extreme remoteness of the cave sites and the extremes of alternative transport methods the team used to arrive at the dive site.
BBQ
There will also be a BBQ, so mark the date in your diary and further details will be posted on the NDAC website nearer the time.

Extreme
Underwater Ironing Total
--------------------------------
Earlier this year 128 divers braved freezing temperatures and broke the guiness world record for the highest number of divers ironing at the same time underwater.
In addition to breaking the world record, the aim was to raise money for the RNLI.
We are very pleased to announce that the final figure raised for the RNLI is a fantastic £14,000.
Thanks goes to everyone who took part or helped with the event.
