Inverted Thought - The latest attraction at the NDAC

Mike Fischetti & Sculpture photographWe have recently had a new attraction installed in the NDAC quarry; but this one’s a little different to the type of thing you find at most diving sites. This attraction is a 200kg, 6 foot high sculpture, created by underwater artist Jason De Caires Taylor.

When you see the sculpture’s reflection from underwater it would appear that someone is on the surface looking down at you while you are underwater!

Mike Fischetti is the face of the World’s first inverted sculpture and is a presenter on the award winning CBBC Smart, seen by millions of viewers each week. The shoot is for an episode of Smart that will be shown in 2009.

Jason De Caires TaylorJason De Caires Taylor was the artist behind the attraction and has spent a number of months putting the life size sculpture together. According to Jason this is the first and only one of its kind in the world.

‘Inverted Thought’ is the name of the sculpture and he looks awesome. He will be spending the next smartfew years in position underwater at the NDAC, allowing time for the ecology to weather away his silvery finish, create an artificial reef and something special for the NDAC and its divers.

The Guys were hanging 200ft off ropes and abseiling into the quarry. Also during the day there was a number of team building and command task activities designed to put them through their paces, all in the aide of charity.

New Compressor Facility installed at NDAC Scuba Diving Site

Upgrades to the NDAC Compressor Facility Complete

Due to this year's increased number of visitors to the National Diving & Activity Centre, and following your feedback, we have decided to improve our service and install a second air compressor at the NDAC Gas Room.

The new equipment will complement our existing air compressor, offering a reduced waiting times for fills. It also means that if one of our compressors ever fails we'll have a back up solution so that service can continue.

Centre Manager, Ashley, has seen fill speeds significantly increase since the new equipment has been installed. This means more diving time for you, which can't be a bad thing!

Next time you visit the centre feel free to pop your head in the door and take a look.

We have recently made some reductions in the prices of our gas fills. For further information click here>

It is also possible to save a further 20% on our already competitively priced air fills. Find out more here>
Sorry, this promotion has now ended.
