Rare Breed of Duck Lands at NDAC site

A rare breed of yellow duck was recently spotted next to the freediving platform.

It is believed that it was part of a flock on a 14 year migratory route from China, via the North Pacific, Alaska, Japan & North America; traveling over 21,000 miles so far.

A few of the birds have broken away from the main flock of 29,000 & have headed to Europe. Research suggests that this maybe the first UK sighting of its kind.

It is hoped that some more of the flock will populate the quarry during Easter 2007.

Please watch our website and e-shotlines for further updates.

200ft Cliff Top Abseil

Fancy a 200ft Cliff top abseil?

The Joshua Foundation The National Diving & Activity Centre is promoting a Sponsored Abseil fundraising event for The Joshua Foundation on Saturday 28th July 2007. The Abseil will run from the top of our quarry, down 200ft onto a floating pontoon below - an exciting abseil in a spectacular location!

This event is being promoted by The National Diving & Activity Centre for the purpose of raising funds for The Joshua Foundation, a worldwide charity created in 1998 to provide holidays and experiences for children and their families, where
the child is diagnosed with terminal cancer.

The idea behind the ‘experiences’ and the ‘holidays’ is to provide opportunities for children and their families to escape illness and the intimidating, clinical and sterile atmosphere of hospitals.

abseil picIn 2001 the Joshua Foundation introduced an exciting new event to its timetable - the Oz Experience, a project specifically designed to provide young people with the opportunity to change the lives of children with terminal cancer. This overseas challenge offers the trip of a lifetime in exchange for youngsters raising sponsorship money, half of which pays for the trip and the other half comes to our work for children with terminal cancer. For further information visit their website www.thejoshuafoundation.co.uk.

After hundreds of our regular divers asking about a scuba club at the centre, we have decided it is high time we created our very own in-house dive club. We are very proud to present the Chilli Divers Dive Club.

As far as we know this is something that has never been attempted before by any of the UK inland sites, and we are very excited about it!

We are looking to organise all sorts of diving events and sessions - both wet and dry and our dive club members will recieve numerous benefits in terms of discounts, trips and holidays and savings!

Interested? For further details on the new club please visit the Chilli Divers area on our website. more>
