We have recently installed five new 40ft long pontoons in the NDAC diving quarry.
This extra pontoon space also creates a bridge to the Saltfree freediving platform so they no longer need to take a boat trip before diving.
This development is something a lot of the divers have been asking for and is part of our ongoing investment plans, which will see half a million pounds invested in the centre.
With the start of a new year there are some very exciting plans in the pipeline at the National Diving and Activity Centre.
There is an immediate £500k investment in the infrastructure and works for for an off-road Segway course, new deluxe wigwams and a 3G swing. The works have already commenced with a full application.
The investment programme will start to roll out over the next few months with the initial purchase of 12 Segways X2 models that will allow off road experiences throughout the grounds of the National Diving and Activity Centre. The electrical powered Segways are from the USA and will add a fun activity and new dimension to the area.
Glamping gets even better
The Wigwam Village accommodation at NDAC has been such a great success that we have just secured an order for 12 more units. These new wigwams will be super deluxe with your own indoor shower, double bed, sofa bed, toilet and kitchen area so you can be completely self contained in your unit. As an additional facility it is proposed that two of these units will be used by NDAC to offer massage treatments to include sports massage, facials and pamper experiences.
We are looking at the first delivery of the units early in 2014 with the completion of works by Easter 2014, but best of all, they will be located 200ft above the edge of the quarry walls with breathtaking views of the UK’s Deepest Inland Dive Site.
The Giant 3G Swing
The Giant 3G Swing will also be available from Easter 2014 and the additional £100k investment of works will be started early in 2014.
New Underwater Attraction
For the divers, we have purchased a 35 tonne steel trawler. The boat will be submerged early 2014 as a new underwater attraction which will support wreck diving experiences. The boat is parked to the left hand side of the entrance of NDAC for any interested viewing. More details about the new attraction can be found here>
There is some further future investment planned at NDAC with an extension to the popular View Cafe Bar and toilet facilities. This will include an event multi functional room, a snug area and a play area for children so we will be offering something for all the family.
We have seen a substantial increase in visitor numbers over the past 3 years and the original investment of 19 Wooden Wigwams, View Cafe Bar and the Wire Zip Slide have supported this increase. The extra investment over the next few years will see the site as the perfect destination for divers, family and friends to enjoy all year round with a variety of activities to experience.
We want to thank all of our customers over the past 3 years who have walked alongside us on our journey and enabled us to support the growth of the business and improving your overall experience. We want to continue to improve on your experience and hope your continued support throughout 2014 and beyond will strengthen NDAC and make us your destination site. Investing in us means we can invest in you.
