Deep Trouble at Monmouthshire Walking Festival

The 2012 Monmouthshire Walking Festival starts on Friday 22nd June. They have a great and varied walking programme to suit all types of walker.

The first Monmouthshire Walking Festival in 2012 runs from Friday 22nd June to Sunday 1st July. From the highest point in Monmouthshire, Chwarel y Fan to the new Wales Coastal Path, from high moorland to wooded glades, from secluded countryside to busy market towns, the Monmouthshire Walking Festival has walks to interest and challenge you. If you are looking for local history, flora, fauna, churches, lost villages, hill forts, rivers, castles and gardens, then Monmouthshire Walking Festival has some of the best that Monmouthshire has to offer.

The National Diving & Activity Centre in Chepstow is the start and finish point for the Deep Trouble walk taking place on Saturday 30th June 2012.

Starting at 10am Walk Leaders Clare Scutts and Sue Rawle will be your guides for the day. Starting at the National Diving & Activity Centre you will pick up the Gloucestershire Way and then Offa’s Dyke path as you follow the course of the Lower Wye valley. Diverting via the Lancaut Circular walk you’ll enjoy the woods below the impressive limestone cliffs, an area protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). After you reach the chapel of St. James, you’ll return along the Offa’s Dyke path to once again pick up the Gloucestershire Way and return to the National Diving & Activity Centre in Chepstow.

Deep Trouble is a crime fiction novel set in a scuba diving club based in the Forest of Dean and the storystarts in the National Diving & Activity Centre near Chepstow. It is unusual in that the crime scene is at the bottom of the sea on a wrecked submarine. There are a number of murderous motives including an illicit love affair, an inheritance and suspects include an irascible drinker and a manipulative philanderer. Sue Rawle is a diver herself but the story is entirely fictional as all her diving buddies in Forest Pirates are lovely people! Sue used to be the Overlooking the Wye Scheme Manager so the walk will also mention a couple of the sites which benefited from conservation works recently.

Sue Rawle will sign copies of her book Deep Trouble at the end of the walk. Alternatively for the intrepid why not try The Wire – the longest zip wire in the country which operates at the National Diving & Activity Centre in Chepstow!

Time to walk Approx 4.5 hours		Terrain One steep descent and ascent. One central section crosses loose boulder scree near the shore, not safe for small children or the unfit.

We have a good range of the Light-for-me products at the NDAC Scuba Equipment Shop. We also have some demonstration underwater torches that you can take underwater and test yourself.

Underwater Video Set for GoPro camera

Light-for-me Underwater Video Set for GoPro camera – small and compact design with robust and powerful lights.

The set consists of two mini video backups powered by one 18650 Li-Ion battery each, butterfly connectors and a comfortable flat goodman handle.

The lights’ position can be easily adjusted, even underwater. They are bright – 900 lumens each, with wide angle – 120 degrees, switched on by twisting.

Flat goodman handle fits a hand comfrotably, whether in wet or dry glove.

The set (without batteries) weighs only 0.9 kilo so no need to worry about weight limits when travelling!

*The set does not include batteries, charger and GoPro camera.

Light-for-me backup torches

Three different backup types, each in two options – standard and mini

Light-for-me offers a wide variety of backup torches that would suit divers of different diving profiles – from recreational to technical. Each of our backups: TEC, 3XPG and XML is available in two options standard or MINI. Standard backup requires three C size batteries, MINI backups are powered by one 18650 Li-ion battery.
*Backups are sold without any batteries, these need to be purchased separately.

Light-for-me E/O connection Products

Light-for-me E/O connection products include E/O heads: 4TEC, 7XPE, 7XPG and TEK-OONE and ACCU E/O in standard and SideMount version.

Accu E/O enables a diver to connect different E/O compatible heads and/or a heating vest. Accu E/O SideMount is equipped with 90-degree cable outlet.
