Saltfree Double DipHow deep can you go?

Double Dip 2009, an AIDA Ranked Freedive Competition in Constant Weight, Constant Weight No Fins and Free Immersion will take place at the NDAC in Chepstow, UK on 18th and 19th July 2009.

This is the fifth time Saltfree has hosted the UK Champs and the first time on our all new renovated pontoon. We hope to welcome freedivers from all over the UK and beyond to compete, show the world just how deep they can dive on a single breath, meet new buddies and most importantly, have a great weekend freediving with friends, new and old.

We can't stress enough that we'd love to see entrants at all levels - so whether this is your fiftieth competiton, or your first, we'll do our utmost to make sure it's a great experience, everything is as perfect as it can be for your dives and you go away buzzing with the achievement. We'll make sure there is a good prize for the best newbie - and a few other rewards for "special" talents on the day!

SaltFree Pontoon Repairs at Inland Diving SiteThe competition runs over two days. Each diver only dives once each day and you must enter in two different disciplines. You can choose your two from - Constant Weight, Constant Weight No Fins and Free Immersion. If you don't know what that means - click here for definitions and videos>.

Results from Double Dip will give athletes an international freedive ranking in the disciplines they complete successfully. Scores here will count towards UK Team Selection for the AIDA Individual World Cup scheduled for November 2009 at Deans Blue Hole in the Bahamas.

We'll have some prizes for the top three men and women overall and also a little something for the best newcomer. The overall winners will be decided by a handicapping system which accounts for the fact that CWNF is a little more challenging than the others (see here for details>).

Alongside the comp, there will be plenty of chances to meet new freedive buddies, exchange hints and techniques, buy and sell freedive gear at our "bring and buy" stall and of course, a bit of a party on the Saturday night. For more information on the programme, rules, prizes, judges etc. Click here>.

We'd love to see you as a competing athlete, safety diver, general crew, videographer, photographer, medic, judge or just a freedive groupie- the more the merrier! Full details on entry are on the right. If you'd like to get involved in some other way, can offer sponsorship or have any questions please email Sam at Saltfree here>.

Salt Free FreediversSaltFree meet at least once a month in Chepstow and offer beginner courses regularly. For more information, take a look at www.saltfreedivers.com or the Saltfree page on the NDAC site.

We hope to see you there! Sam and Saltfree
