| Royal
Engineers to Conduct Dive Training at NDAC
Despite the recent freezing winter temperatures,
snow and mass rain falls we have all been experiencing over the
past few weeks we have managed to secure the help and support of
The Royal Engineers Dive team to conduct some underwater work at
the National Diving and Activity Centre.
The dive team
from 3 Regiments School of Military Engineering (3 RSME) based
near Camberley in Hampshire have just confirmed attendance (all
10 of them) to conduct diver training at NDAC.
SSgt Phil Knowles
who hold many hats has confirmed attendance and is planning to conduct
the following works at site.
Firstly they
are going to conduct some underwater surveys of the underwater site
to locate where we are going to put the 7.5
tonne Double Decker bus, the 6
tonne Single Decker bus and our heaviest attraction to date
a 45 tonnes barge (watch this space)! They will be looking around
the 50m area and we will keep you updated on movements.
They are also
going to look at concreting the haul road ramp that leads to the
waters edge. This will benefit you in a number of different ways,
for starters you will be able to enter and exit the water from the
turning circle ramp without getting onto the pontoons (if you so
wish). We also hope this will make your rescue training a bit more
workable.
The team are
looking to come down the week commencing 23 March and will be doing
underwater cutting, Surveying, deep diver training and much much
more. So if you want to pop down on the Thursday or Friday of that
week and see the Army in action then why not make a day of it?
